Grades are awarded based on a combination of factors such as performance on assignments, exams, class participation, and overall understanding of the material. This system is used to evaluate a student's level of comprehension and mastery of the subject matter. Grades provide a standardized way to measure and compare students' academic achievements, helping educators and institutions assess students' progress and determine their readiness to advance to the next level of education. Ultimately, grades serve as a tool to motivate students to strive for excellence and provide feedback on their strengths and areas for improvement. **

Partial points can also be given when a question has multiple components, and the student has answered some parts correctly but not all. Ultimately, partial points are a way to provide more nuanced feedback and recognize the progress and effort of students. **
